On the darkest day of the year, we
celebrate the
Winter Solstice with drums, dance and fire.
World percussionist, Robin "Adnan" Anders (Boiled In Lead) leads a group of exceptional drummers as they lay down a rhythmic backbone for the area's hottest fire dancers. Bring your drums and dancing feet and get involved in this annual celebration - all skill levels are welcome!
You don't have to travel all the way to Hawaii (although that would be pretty nice this time of year) to experience fire dancing at it's finest. Many fire dances will be performed such as baton, staff, poi, devil stick, as well as elegant fire fingers, fans, palms, and wands. Nothing fuels these dances more than the heartbeat of the drum.
It's an incredibly powerful experience when top notch percussionists and skillful fire dancers come together. Robin "Adnan" Anders, who has been a staple in the Minnesota music scene with Boiled In Lead, will be joined by the likes of Tim O'Keefe, Michael Sullivan, Steve Spaise, and many more. Doors open at 6:30 pm to set the tone, and a beautifully choreographed opening ceremony will begin at 8:00 pm.
Mr. Fun and Mystik Toyz have been teaching people of all ages to juggle and play for more than a decade. It's likely you have seen or played with them at a Minnesota festival. Children and families are welcome to join in the fun and learn to play with all the fun toys offerred by Mystik Toyz. Mr. Fun will be on hand to teach and and sell the toys.
As you know, a Minnesota winter can trick you into thinking
summer's never coming back. All the more reason to embrace this beautiful season and celebrate
all that it has to offer and more. Come one, come all - it's time
to celebrate and play!
