This highly original show of Yiddish swing music will get you tapping your toes and dancing. Yiddish swing music seamlessly blends the soulfulness of klezmer, the rhythms of swing, and the distinctive sounds of jazz, creating an American original fusion music that took the world by storm in the late 1930s in the hands of Minnesota's own Andrews Sisters. Yiddish Swingtime features some of the region's top musicians playing such favorites as "Oy Mama, Am I in Love" "Flat Foot Floogie," "Abi Gezint," and "Bi Mir Bist Du Sheyn": Becky Clawson, vocals; Bill Hinkley, guitar and vocals; Bruce Wintervold, vibes; Marya Hart, piano; Ralph Wittcoff, bass; and Jeff Garetz, drums.

This concert is a benefit for Mayim Rabim Reconstructionist Congregation. Mayim Rabim, founded in 1992, is the Twin Cities' only Reconstructionist synagogue, melding traditional practice and modern ideals.
