The Cedar’s Community Plaza Grand Opening Celebration

Somali Museum Dance Troupe Featuring Somali Singer Dalmar Yare

On April 23, 2016, The Cedar celebrated the Grand Opening of the Community Plaza, a newly renovated neighborhood gathering spot right next to The Cedar! The event featured spoken word performances by Teen Voice, and a Dhaanto dance demo with the Somali Museum Dance Troupe with singer Dalmar Yare, free tasty bites prepared by neighborhood eateries, and the unveiling of the new Coffeescape/Triple C project, a coffee stand designed and built by youth in partnership with Brian Coyle Center which will be stationed on the plaza through the summer and beyond. The party culminated in a community dance party featuring the electro cumbia, salsa, and merengué grooves of Alma Andina. Come visit – this is YOUR community plaza!
