On November 25th, The Pines celebrated the release of their new EP “Pasture II” at The Cedar with the support of Frankie Lee. This is the second EP in their series focusing on American folk music and was recorded in their home state of Iowa with their fellow musician and friend, Mason Jennings. The EP’s cover was photographed by fellow Iowa native Danny Wilcox Frazier, lining up with the EP’s strong feeling of home, land, and community. The Pines’ Benson Ramsey spoke of the new EP as being “almost like a photograph” in that most of the tracks were recorded in 1 to 3 takes, capturing the raw, real feel of a live performance.
The show was accompanied by a hypnotizing light show and featured a powerful collaboration with Native American activist and poet John Trudell in the EP’s final track, “Time Dreams.”
