Good Luck Finding Iris
Good Luck Finding Iris
Good Luck Finding Iris: From the misty haze of morning light emerges a sound, drawn from the rivers of spring and lifted to the edge of the forests’ reach. This is the place where the Iris climbs upward. This is the sacred hollow, the common ground of four wanderers. Ours is the voice of youth, of light, of harmony; the voice that speaks louder, crying out in search of meaning. In search of a guiding melody that returns the soul to the forest. The Iris is that which is in all of us, growing, and changing. Allowing each person to embrace their beauty, and to develop into that which they absolutely must. This is the search for that pureness of self: Good Luck Finding Iris.
Ayvah is a collection of jazz-trained musicians and hip-hop lovers rooted in soul; as they combine all of these influential and eclectic sounds, Ayvah has emerged as a jazz-funk, neo-soul band. Ayvah creates music from a wide base of inspiration, including love, heartbreak, coming of age, sexuality, poetry, nature and more. Minneapolis/Saint Paul based, Ava (lead vocals), Sam (keys), Ethan (bass), Joey (drums) and Andy (guitar) bring a strong sense artistry and collaboration to all local music niches. “We don’t want to limit ourselves to any specific genre or taste— we just want to create art that is technical, thought out and charged with inspiration.”
Lydia Liza
Lydia Liza is a singer-songwriter that funnels intense emotion through her voice and acoustic guitar in a way that is magnified through her stripped-down performance style. Her songs emphasize a deeply personal connection with the audience. An intimate listening experience that connects listeners to the lyrics in a way that signifies the strength of the folk singer-songwriter genre is created every time she spills her soul through a microphone and six strings.
DJ Keezy
Born and raised in Minneapolis, DJ Keezy has been making waves in the Twin Cites for four years now. Keezy has been recognized by The Current, as the DJ “Who brings female energy center stage.” Through her years of DJ’ing and realizing that women are consistently being underestimated in their own talents and abilities, Keezy has commitment to using her gift to highlight other artists. She is the founder of one of the first all female line-up dance parties to hit First Avenue's Mainroom. In addition, she is a curator of many other dance nights within the Twin Cities. Keezy is known for backing two local artists, BdotCroc and Lady Midnight, and has had the opportunity to open for established acts like Kehlani, The Internet, Trina & Da Brat. Keezy’s style is heavily influenced by hip-hop, jazz and rap. Her signature sound consists of spinning throwbacks, tracks by female artists, and the hottest new remixes.
