I AM/Umuliso: An Evening of Poetry and Music
Join us for sambusas and Somali tea, followed by the presentation of I AM, performances written and performed by local Somali youth, along with Umuliso ("Midwife"), a short performance work created for the youth by playwright, lyricist, poet, and educator Said Salah, based on his award-winning children's song written in 1979.

This performance is part of the Midnimo Workshop Series, a skills-based workshop for Somali youth in partnership with Brian Coyle Center, led by Taous Khazem and Said Salah. Midnimo was launched in partnership with Augsburg University in 2014 and features the world’s leading Somali artists in residencies, events, and projects that increase understanding of Somali culture through music.
