Dear Cedar Friends,
I write today with mixed emotions that after thirteen years at The Cedar Cultural Center, I have decided to pursue new career opportunities. Working at The Cedar alongside brilliant artists, staff, volunteers, and community members has been humbling and inspiring, and I am grateful for all that I have been so fortunate to be part of.
My work at The Cedar has combined my passion for arts, music, and intercultural connection to make a positive impact on our communities, and I see a strong need for these tools and outcomes in other sectors and communities as well. I was recently accepted into the Policy Fellows Program at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Learning and working alongside other leaders in the government, nonprofit, and corporate sectors has presented the opportunity for me to branch out from The Cedar and explore other possibilities. While closing this chapter has been a difficult decision, I do so because I believe there is a need for me to make a difference in my local and global community beyond The Cedar.
I feel privileged to have been part of something so special at The Cedar, and I have so appreciated your support, contributions, and participation. I look forward to seeing The Cedar continue to grow and to serve as a platform for important artistic voices. Thanks for all you have done.
On behalf of The Board of Directors of The Cedar, we would like to thank Adrienne Dorn for her 13 years of achievements and leadership. Over the past decade, Adrienne contributed to the growth of The Cedar’s annual budget from $700,000 to $2.6 million. She helped to develop The Cedar’s growing programming that now expands beyond live music concerts to include workshops, collaborative commissions, educational programs, youth-led initiatives, and artist-led academic projects, increasing agency and inclusion of our constituent communities. Adrienne also spearheaded Midnimo, The Cedar’s groundbreaking Somali artist-in-residence program, which has now grown throughout the state.
For 29 years, The Cedar has been committed to fostering intercultural appreciation and understanding through global music. The Board will announce an interim director in November who will steward our programs and mission as we launch a search for long-term leadership.
Please join us in wishing Adrienne well and thanking her for her dedication and all she has done for The Cedar.
