Introducing Our New Program Director: James Taylor
Minneapolis, MN — The Cedar Cultural Center is thrilled to announce the appointment of James Taylor as its new Program Director. James brings extensive experience in live music, artist development, and venue management to the position.
“James begins his tenure here with a deep understanding of The Cedar, having booked bands in our room, performed on our stage, and partnered with our staff many times over the past eight years,” says executive director Michelle Woster. “The Cedar is fortunate to have found someone with James’ strong curatorial vision and intimate understanding of music industry challenges at this critical juncture.”
James comes to The Cedar from First Avenue, where he worked on the booking team for eight years, presenting developing and internationally-recognized artists in their six venues. He served on the Board of Directors of Twin Cities Catalyst Music, helping all-ages music venues in the Twin Cities navigate the post-COVID landscape. Prior to moving to Minnesota, James was a venue owner and operator in Austin, TX where he started his career in concert promotions and artist development.
“The Cedar is a crucial piece of the Twin Cities live music ecosystem and I’m grateful to be the next steward of this incredible room,” says Taylor.
“This reimagined position will not just fill The Cedar’s calendar with artistically excellent programming. It will also deepen and build relationships with community organizations who partner with us to deliver our mission of using global music and dance to promote intercultural appreciation,” says Woster.
James can be reached at jtaylor@thecedar.org for programming inquiries and collaborations. Welcome, James!
