Minneapolis artist IAMJOY will be debuting her album What Is Getting Home? in the intimacy of The Cedar. Immerse yourself in her exploration of genres and introspective lines.
IAMJOY
IAMJOY is an alt-pop musician based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By artfully blending ear catching guitar riffs and unwaveringly honest lyricism with candy coated synth loops; she’s able to convey the complexities of emotions we are often too afraid to acknowledge ourselves. Confronting insecurity, the cyclical nature of relationships, and the anxiety of the human experience head on. As a byproduct of tackling these concepts without shame, IAMJOY’s catalogue becomes life-affirming; like sunlight hitting your body after a night spent reminiscing, blinding and warm.
IAMJOY’s upcoming debut album “What Is Getting Home?” is the culmination of her reflections of a “failed” relationship. Narratively dissecting the feeling of doubt, falling in and out of love, and ultimately reconciling with the fact that two things can be true at once.
On the heels of taking the stage at First Avenue, The Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Arlene’s Grocery in New York City, she is prepared to debut the new record at The Cedar Cultural Center on 10/3/2026.
Backed by her jazz trained band, IAMJOY hopes everyone who experiences her show leaves with more love and hope than when they arrived. She strives to remind the audience that they are not alone, encourages them to find the joy in heartache and suffering, and promises to give them a show they will remember long after attending.
Anna Houston
Anna Houston is a singer-songwriter who grew up in the Midwest. She writes music that is all about connection and storytelling. Anna blends styles of indie, pop, and adds in her own angsty edge. Her debut album, Catharsis takes listeners through the journey of a young girl who really just has a lot to get off her chest, which you can find on all music platforms.
Maddie Thies
Bassist and backing vocalist for many, Maddie Thies, is stepping center stage. Thies’ award winning unique art-alternative and genre bending style tackles the many aches of the heart. Pulling from her life experiences as a Third Culture Kid growing up between South Korea and Minnesota, chronic pain, grief, yearning, and sometimes her little black dog, Thies’ music is wandering, lush, and real. She is joined on stage by her close friends and collaborators: Lucas Rollo on bass, keys, and backing vocals, Riley Jacobson on guitar and keys, and Aurelio Sandoval Pogatshnik on drums.
