alone-a

alone-a, the solo project of Minneapolis-based artist Alana Horton, explores memory and moment through vast tapestries of voice, digital delays, and rich signal processing. Every sound comes from her voice, run through a custom Max/MSP instrument she has developed with collaborators since 2018. Her debut album, a veil, a prism, was released April 3, 2026 on Bumpy Records. Built from live improvisations recorded in Minneapolis and Chicago, its nine tracks move between immersive ambient soundscapes and lyrical passages, fracturing and reshaping the voice into layered loops and processed textures.

"Crystalline vocals and pristine electronic movements... recall the shimmering instrumental sketches collected on Arthur Russell's First Thought Best Thought." — Spenser Tomson, The Wire Magazine
