about this show

A place to be too big.

Too Big Burlesque is a celebration of spectacle in all its forms: big acts, bold ideas, oversized props, larger-than-life performances, and unapologetic energy. We’re taking up space and embracing the extravagant, the ambitious, the weird, the flashy, and the too much—because in a world that can make us feel like we need to shrink ourselves, sometimes the best thing we can do is dare to be bigger.

Featuring a special performance from a student group from The Rose Academy of Burlesque, come experience an evening where the limit simply doesn’t exist. Big concepts, big personalities, and spectacle galore await!

Petty Treason

Burlesque's Finest Felony

Performing

Petty Treason is a Minneapolis-based burlesque performer known for her bold stage presence, sharp comedic timing, signature flair, and captivating facial expressions. A lifelong lover of the performing arts, Petty has been performing for more than 20 years and has taken her acts to stages across the country, appearing at festivals including the Colorado Burlesque Festival, Show Me Burlesque Festival, Minneapolis Burlesque Festival, Land of the Sky Burlesque Festival, Ohio Burlesque Festival, and The Shimmy Showdown. Whether she's serving up spectacle, comedy, or a little bit of trouble, Petty brings her own unmistakable brand of personality to every stage.

Producing and Hosting

Behind the scenes, Petty is a producer, emcee, and community builder with a passion for creating shows that celebrate performers and bring audiences together. Through Petty Treason Productions and her work with Golden Garters Burlesque Revue, she has produced and co-produced a variety of burlesque events, showcases, and special performances throughout the Twin Cities. As an emcee, Petty brings the same energy and personality she brings to the stage, keeping audiences engaged, performers supported, and shows moving with a healthy dose of wit and mischief.

Teaching

Petty has been teaching at The Rose Academy of Burlesque, founded by local burlesque luminary Deeva Rose, since 2020. As an instructor, she teaches group classes, solo development, workshops, private lessons, and courses focused on production and improvisation. Her teaching centers on helping performers develop confidence, creativity, stage presence, and the practical skills needed to bring their ideas from concept to stage. Petty believes there is no single right way to do burlesque—and loves helping students discover what makes their own performance voice unique.

Petty is thrilled to bring Too Big Burlesque to the stage and even more thrilled to share it with the incredible performers who are ready to show us exactly what it means to take up space. Big performances, big personalities, big ideas—and absolutely no apologies for any of it. There’s plenty of room on this stage, so take up some space, make a little trouble, and be Too Big.
