ABOUT THIS SHOW

TAIGA is an electronic duo from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, blending traditional sounds with modern techniques to create a new kind of psychedelic, nomadic music. Rooted in Mongolian musical heritage, they combine khoomei — traditional throat singing — with horse-head fiddle, Tuvan doshpuluur, and electronics to create a unique take on dub, trance, and EDM.

TAIGA

TAIGA is an electronic duo from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, who fuse traditional sound with modern technique into a new form of psychedelic nomadic music.

Husile – singer, choor (end-blown flute), synthesizer
XiLeiLei – singer, guitar, morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), synthesizer

TAIGA is an electronic music duo from Inner Mongolia and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Originally, it was a folk band comprised of four members. In 2014, the two multi-instrumentalists Xi Leilei and Husile met each other and in 2017 they took up the project.
Their compositions fuse the traditional ethnic sounds and its contemporary approach to create their own nomadic psychedelic music. Rooted in the Mongolian traditions and musical heritage, they combine Khoomei throat singing technique, instruments such as the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), the Tuvan doshpuluur lute, bass drums and guitars, all with influences from dub, broken beats, progressive, ambient, trance and electronic dance music. Each composition conveys a message and is a gateway to their authentic world and vision of life. Since moving to the party-hard city of Chengdu in 2019, TAIGA has evolved from a folk band into a late-night club wildcard, impressing crowds with their unique, multi-instrumental live show and developing a large and diverse fanbase.
TAIGA performed in  Europe at Isis Garden in France,  Tauron Nowa Muzyka festival Poland, Fusion festival Germany,  Breminale festival Germany,  Nordkette Wetterleuchten Festival Austria, 650 years of Schönefeld & German - Mongolian partnership festival Berlin Germany,  FMM Sines Portugal, Fekete Zaj festival Hungary,  Humulus Lupulus festival Germany and club gigs in Augsburg, Berlin, Prague and London.
