In the event of severe weather, or an air quality advisory, we will not reschedule the event. Instead, we will host the show indoors at The Cedar and admit all patrons into the show on a first-come, first-served basis until the venue reaches capacity.

ABOUT THIS SHOW
Featuring duets from Minnesota-based experimentalists Davu Seru & deVon Russel Gray, Michael Gallope & Mary Hanson Scott, and Dameun Strange & Leyna Marika Papach, this night is all about deep, introspective listening, with an emphasis on presence, texture, and sound.
Davu Seru
Davu Seru is an improvising musician and composer known primarily for his work on drums. His playing has afforded him an international reputation and awards from McKnight Foundation (2020 Composer Fellowship), Jerome Foundation (2017-18 Composer/Sound Artist Fellow) and commissions from Walker Art Center and Zeitgeist ensemble. For the past two decades-plus, he has performed and recorded with artists such as Anthony Cox, Milo Fine, George Cartwright, Nirmala Rajasekar, Douglas R. Ewart, Michelle Kinney, Dean Magraw, Paul Metzger, Evan Parker, J. Otis Powell ‽, Didier Petit, Babatunde Lea, Nathan Hanson, deVon Russell Gray, Mankwe Ndosi, Rafael Toral, David Boykin, Donald Washington, Guillame Seguron, Louis Alemayehu, Taylor Ho Bynum, Tony Hymas, Catherine Delaunay, Ta-coumba Aiken and Nicole Mitchell Gantt. He is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians.
deVon Russell Gray
Who is deVon Russell Gray? A divinely guided multi-media social justice activist or a pantheistic audial alchemist? Central to his creative practice is the fundamental belief of starting from a place of "I know nothing" when approaching any new composition, performance, or creative endeavor. He constantly seeks a transformative death/rebirth process to expand his artistic horizons. Among other known knowns about this artist, Gray absorbs tremendous inspiration from the natural world, finding solace & reflection in the great outdoors. Gray has been awarded fellowships from the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy for Musicians, Jerome Foundation, and twice from the McKnight Foundation. He has been commissioned by Walker Art Center, Del Sol String Quartet, the Metropolis Ensemble, pianist Lara Downes, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, and more. Additionally he has severed as composer-in-residence with Schubert Club of Minnesota.

Waves is an electro-acoustic band made up of artists Dameun Strange and Leyna Marika Papach creating ambient dreamscapes featuring strings, percussion, electronics and synthesizers.
Mary Hanson Scott
Mary Hanson Scott is a Minneapolis-based musician known for building layers of ethereal saxophone into something almost synth-like. She recently released the full-length album Esoteric Lounge Music Now (with Ruth Mascelli) on the UK-based label Disciples. Michael Gallope is a keyboardist who plays in the Minneapolis-based ambient-psychedelic band, IE. Their most recent album is Reverse Earth (Quindi Records, 2025).
